Top Ten Ways to Kill Your Union
1. Don't attend meetings.
2. If you attend, come late.
3. If the weather is bad, blame that.
4. When you attend, find personal fault with the officers, and other members, then criticize their work.
5. Never accept an office... it's easier to criticize than to do.
6. Nevertheless, get sore if you're not appointed to a committee; or if you're appointed, don't attend the committee meetings.
7. If asked by the leadership to give your opinion on an important matter, say nothing, but tell how things should be done after the meeting.
8. Do nothing more than what is absolutely necessary, but when other members roll up their sleeves, willingly and unselfishly using their ability to help matters along, howl that the union is being run by a clique.
9. If your local or unit is struggling financially to maintain offices on your behalf, be sure to muster all the help you can to vote against a dues increase.
10. Don't bother about new members; let somebody else do it.
